SHSAT FOUNDATIONS

Our SHSAT clinics are designed to instill 7th graders with an authentic, content-level understanding of the SHSAT. In this 8-week program, your 7th grader will become a confident test taker. The class culminates in a proctored mock test. In-person and remote sessions available.

COLLEGE ESSAY CLINIC

May 23 – June 13

Our four part College Essay Clinic is a resource for students embarking on the first draft of their Common Application essay. Through peer interviews, structured writing activities, and expert storytelling instruction, students craft personal essays that establish the human connection with admissions officers.

DRAMATIC WRITING WORKSHOP (MIDDLE)

June 2 – June 23

For incoming 7th, 8th, and 9th graders. Taught by New York Times featured playwright, Matthew Gasda, our summer dramatic writing elective is designed for aspiring screenwriters, playwrights, and storytellers. Students will read plays, watch scenes, start discussions, and workshop their writing. At the end of the class, student work will be read by actors from the Brooklyn Center for Theater Research.

HS ADMISSIONS ESSAY WORKSHOP

June 4 – June 18

Our signature workshop for incoming 8th graders is spread over three Tuesdays and focuses on the development and execution of ideas for high impact admissions essays with an eye towards independent high school admissions, screened portfolios, and the Bard High School assessment.

Our fall ACT clinic is for students targeting December and February exams. Through instruction, discussion, and skills exercises, students will build a robust toolset for effective ACT test-taking. The class will culminate in a proctored, full-length ACT.
