NORD ANGLIA TEST FOUNDATIONS CLINIC (2025)
City Smarts is proud to offer a test prep class designed specifically for the Nord Anglia community. The class will introduce students to the building blocks for success on the ISEE, SSAT, SHSAT, or whatever fall testing they will pursue.
Over the course of a combined 25 hours of instruction, students will learn necessary content building (math, vocabulary, reading comprehension), advanced level test taking strategies, time management, pacing techniques, and the tools required to become an empowered test taker.
CURRICULUM
Spring Workshop: This clinic is designed to instill in 7th graders an authentic, content-level understanding of all fall admissions testing. Each 90-minute class serves as a rigorous bridge between 7th grade foundation-building prep and the eventual 8th grade sprint to test day. We will begin by building test taking strategies, time management, and content-awareness. Once we are on solid ground for the 7th grade test content, we will integrate Upper Level ISEE & SSAT material, and reference other important high school entrance exams like the TACHS and the SHSAT.
Fall Workshop: We will conduct an 8-week fall extender that deepens our understanding of the challenges of the SHSAT, ISEE and SSAT with take-home tests and other skills-building drills to ensure test mastery. In-class testing and weekly homework assignments will be a feature of both the spring and fall classes.

90 Minutes of Instruction
We believe that 90 minutes is an appropriate amount of time for lecture, discussion, and practice testing. Students will be encouraged to “use what they have learned” each class period.
Holistic approach
City Smarts believes that the best way to conquer these tests is to actually learn the material and become confident in the test’s structure. Our instruction has a lasting impact that will serve your child in school and on subsequent standardized tests.
test day strategies
Not only does City Smarts teach content, but we also devote time to pacing, overcoming test anxiety, and time management.
Diagnostics
Homework assignments are scored each week. Parents and students are provided score reports for each completed assignment.
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS
We will be assigning homework at the conclusion of each lesson, and homework completion is required. We expect all students to treat one another with respect and to stay focused for the entirety of each lesson. Lastly, we hope to facilitate dynamic discussions about the ins and outs of these tests.
