NORD ANGLIA ISEE & SSAT CLINIC (2021)
City Smarts is proud to offer a two part ISEE & SSAT class designed specifically for the Nord Anglia community.
Over the course of a combined 28 hours of instruction, students will learn necessary content building (math, vocabulary, reading comprehension), advanced level test taking strategies, time management, pacing techniques, and the tools required to become an empowered test taker.
CURRICULUM
Spring Workshop: This clinic is designed to instill in 7th graders an authentic, content-level understanding of the two private high school admissions exams, the ISEE and SSAT. Our 8-week, 16-hour program serves as a rigorous bridge between 7th grade foundation-building prep and the eventual 8th grade sprint to test day. We will begin by building test taking strategies, time management, and content-awareness for the 7th grade MAP test. Once we are on solid ground for the 7th grade test, we will integrate Upper Level ISEE & SSAT material.
Fall Workshop: We will conduct a 6-week, 12-hour extender clinic that complements and builds upon the content and momentum of the Spring course. Every year, our ISEE & SSAT students find that their grades in math class improve in tandem with our instruction; this is because we focus on building content knowledge rather than slick tricks. City Smarts believes that the best way to conquer these tests is to actually learn the material and become confident in the test’s structure. Our instruction has a lasting impact that will serve your students in school and on subsequent standardized tests.

Schedule: Tuesdays and Wednesdays
Time: 3:15 to 4:15 PM
Platform: Zoom Classroom

Mock Exam: Both sections of this course concludes with a mock exam which will be proctored virtually. Each student will receive a detailed test report that not only outlines which areas he or she needs to improve, but also serves as a benchmark for overall progress.

60 Minutes of Instruction
We believe that 60 minutes is an appropriate amount of effective instructional time for most 7th grade learners working in a class setting: just the right length to keep your child engaged but not exhausted.
Holistic approach
City Smarts believes that the best way to conquer these tests is to actually learn the material and become confident in the test’s structure. Our instruction has a lasting impact that will serve your child in school and on subsequent standardized tests.
time management and test day strategies
Not only does City Smarts teach content, but we also devote time to pacing, overcoming test anxiety, and time management.
Diagnostics
Our course concludes with a full length mock exam, which will be proctored either at our classroom or virtually, as circumstances allow. Each student will receive a detailed test report that not only outlines in which areas he or she needs to continue improving, but also serves as a benchmark for overall progress. Because City Smarts also offers one of the most robust private ISEE & SSAT tutoring programs in the city, we guarantee that we will have guidance in place, should your child need it.
STUDENT EXPECTATIONS
We will be assigning homework at the conclusion of each lesson, and homework completion is required. We expect all students to treat one another with respect and to stay focused for the entirety of each lesson. Lastly, we encourage all class members to participate and hope to facilitate dynamic discussions about the ins and outs of these tests
