Choosing the right high school
Taking into consideration your child’s academic profile, personality, and objectives, we will oversee the development of a target school list, complete with robust notes on what each school is looking for, as well as deadlines and tests required to apply.
AdmISSIONS PLATFORM logistics
We’ll advise you on the ins-and-outs of the various platforms used by public, private, and boarding schools, including the school-specific platforms for some of New York’s most popular independent schools. We can help you register for open houses and tours, and guide you through each aspect of the admissions process: submitting application materials, registering for events, tracking your application status, and navigating decisions.
school open houses & Tours
We understand how busy our City Smarts families are and how easy it is to miss a deadline or to lose track of each school's requirements. Private schools sometimes announce tours in the spring months. Public schools will start to post open house & tour dates online in late August or just after Labor Day. We can help advise you on a timeline for managing tours and visits.
interview prep
We want our students to go into each interview with confidence. We will run through a checklist with you to make sure your child feels prepared.
admissions NARRATIVE SUPPORT
Let's face it, coming up with a story for an essay is overwhelming for parents and students. Applicants can often underutilize this vital opportunity to share their insights with schools. We help applicants navigate each aspect of this process, and our team of essay coaches can support students in drafting, revising, and editing their narratives to reveal their ambitions and potential.

We will connect you to our network of parents and high school seniors who attend the schools on your list. This is a great way for families to have frank, unfiltered conversations about the pros and cons of different NYC schools. Knowing other families have had positive experiences with one of the schools on your list may make your decision a little easier.

Many families end up with several options for high school admissions. We are happy to meet after decisions are released to discuss your options with you, and ease any anxieties that come along with making such an important decision.
